TC Patriot Game Begins Community Match Campaign

Traverse City, Mich.— Thanks to donations from two community sponsors, organizers of this year’s TC Patriot Game hope to turn a $5,000 gift into $10,000 to help Veterans In Crisis. EXIT Realty and Brady’s Bar in Traverse City today pledged up to $5,000 if the community can match that amount in donations before the game.

The annual TC Patriot Game honors active duty military, Veterans, first responders and those from northern Michigan who have recently been killed in action while serving their country. The event takes place during the football clash between Traverse City Central High School and Traverse City West Senior High on Friday, September 20th.

Proceeds from sponsorships and the sale of commemorative shirts will support Veterans In Crisis. The organization provides emergency relief for Veterans in 21 northern Michigan Counties.

“Last year the TC Patriot Game raised a record $16,000 that went to support area Veterans,” says EXIT Realty owner and TC Patriot Game Committee Member, Holly Hack. “This year we want to raise the bar and help even more Veterans, so the students at both schools set a goal of raising $25,000.”

Donations can be made at www.TCPatriotGame.com through a “Donate Now” button.

“Our family is related to Justin Hansen from Kingsley who died while fighting in Afghanistan,” says Brady’s Bar owner Nolen Sleder. “We consider this match a great way to pay tribute to Justin.”

Now in its eighth year, the TC Patriot Game has distributed $81,000 to a variety of Veteran causes. Student senate members from both schools interviewed Veteran organizations and decide which group receives the funds.

The Presenting Sponsor of the game is Fox Grand Traverse. In addition to EXIT Realty and Brady’s Bar, sponsors include Serra of Traverse City, Williams Chevy, 4 Front Credit Union, Traverse Catholic Federal Credit Union and Traverse City Area Public Schools. Supporting sponsors include Meijer, Bill Marsh Auto, McMillen’s Custom Framing, Allen-Kent Photography, Jimmy John’s, and Pepsi. The game also received a grant from the Anne & Les Biederman Foundation. Donations can be sent to TC Patriot Game, P.O. Box 5433, Traverse City, MI 49696. More information about the game is at www.TCPatriotGame.com.
